Bounty for Ringo (original title: Uno straniero a Sacramento ) is a Spaghetti Western from 1965, directed by Sergio Bergonzelli . It was shown for the first time in the German-speaking area on August 25, 1966, where it was seen in the GDR in a different synchronization than Revenge in Sacramento .

action

During a cattle drive, Mike Jordan's father and brother are killed and the whole herd stolen. The sheriff Mike turns to for help instead charges him with the murder of two of the men of a local gangster size, Barnett. The enigmatic stranger Chris and Lisa, a sister of a Barnett assistant, side with Mike. When he can finally convince the sheriff to look at the crime scene, they find no trace of the whereabouts of the dead. Again Mike, who is badly beaten, is thrown in jail. Again he can be freed by Chris and Lisa and is now working with them. They learn from one of Barnett's helpers that his boss has arranged the plot against the young rancher. Finally, the real culprit is arrested by the sheriff and Mike rehabilitated.

criticism

The “average” Western is “of modest design and follows the usual patterns without any merits,” said the Segnalazioni Cinematografiche . Christian Keßler puts it ironically, “to call the film simple would be a glossing over”. The evangelical film observer has a slightly better opinion of the film : “A solid, tense, wide-walled color western [...]. Despite objections because of vigilante justice and some useless harshness in the course of action - well possible from 18. "

Remarks

The script was based on the otherwise untraceable story "I Will Kill You" by Jim Murphy . The actors and the staff are listed under sometimes adventurous-sounding pseudonyms.

The film grossed a below-average Lire 15,581,000 in Italy .
