Kostkowice ( German Kostkowitz ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Dębowiec in the powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

Kostkowice is located in the Silesian Foothills ( Pogórze Śląskie ), about 25 km west of Bielsko-Biała and 60 km south of Katowice in the powiat (district) Cieszyn.

The village has an area of ​​510 ha (12% of the rural parish).

Neighboring towns are Dębowiec in the north, Iskrzyczyn in the east, Łączka in the southeast, Ogrodzona in the south, Gumna in the southwest, Zamarski in the west, Hażlach in the northwest.

history

The village is located in the Olsa area (also Teschener Silesia , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

The place was first mentioned in a document about 1305 in Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (tenth register of the diocese of Breslau ) as an item in Goschegowitz debent esse XX mansi . The name is patronymically derived from the first name Kostka with the typical patronymic word ending - (ow) ice.

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , which existed from 1290 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 was the fiefdom of the kingdom of Bohemia , since 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial from 1850 it was a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and Skotschau judicial district.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Kostkowice became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Kostkowice was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
