Krasnoslobodsk ( Russian Краснослободск , Mokshan Ош , Osh ) is a city in the Republic of Mordovia ( Russia ) with 10,151 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The city is located about 110 km west of the republic capital Saransk on the Mokscha , a right tributary of the Oka, which flows into the Volga .

Krasnoslobodsk is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .

history

The place has been known since 1571 as a settlement belonging to an Ostrog Krasnaya Sloboda , which received city rights in 1780 under its current name.
