The Kriti II is a ferry of the Greek ANEK Lines that was commissioned in 1979 as the New Yukari . It is in use on the route from Piraeus to Heraklion .
history
The New Yukari was created under the hull number 828 in the shipyard of Koyo Dockyard in Mihara and ran on 30 March 1979 by the stack . After its delivery to the Japanese shipping company Shin Nihonkai Ferry on July 26, 1979, the ship began ferry operations between Otaru and Tsuruga in the same month . The sister ship New Suzuran had already been put into service on the same route in May 1979.
After a conversion in 1982, the New Yukari remained in service off the coast of Japan for 14 more years before it was sold together with her sister ship to the Greek ANEK Lines in May 1996 and renamed the Kriti II . After almost a year of renovation work in Perama , the ship began service between Ancona , Igoumenitsa and Patras in June 1997 .
In April 2001 the Kriti II ran from Trieste instead of Ancona to Igoumenitsa and Patras, and from 2002 it was in service between Piraeus and Heraklion. The ship had a special mission in July 2006 when it evacuated Swedish citizens from Lebanon under a charter from the Swedish government .
From October 2007 the Kriti II was used for the service between Patras, Corfu , Igoumenitsa and Venice , Corfu ceased to be the port of call from February 2012. From September to October 2013, the ship was briefly in use between Piraeus and Heraklion before it was in use between Piraeus and Chania from January 2014 . It is now back on the route to Heraklion.
