Krzysztof Szczerski (born April 15, 1973 in Cracow ) is a Polish political scientist at the Jagiellonian University and a politician of the Prawo i Sprawiedliwość party (PiS). From 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the Sejm , in 2015 he became State Secretary in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland under President Andrzej Duda , and in 2017 Head of Cabinet .

Life

Krzysztof Szczerski studied political science at the Jagiellonian University , graduating in 1997 with a master's degree . 2001 doctorate he at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations with the doctor . In 2010 he completed his habilitation at the Jagiellonian University in the field of political science. For his habilitation thesis The Dynamics of the European System he received the Prime Minister's Prize . In 2018 he became a professor at the Jagiellonian University.

After the parliamentary elections in 2011 on October 9, he became a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in the 7th electoral term . From January 26, 2015 to January 24, 2016, he was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for Poland . After the 2015 presidential election , he became State Secretary in the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland under President Andrzej Duda , and in 2017 he became Head of Cabinet .

In 2019 he was proposed by the Polish government as deputy to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg , the position was given to Mircea Geoană . In July 2019 he was nominated by the Polish government as a candidate for EU commissioner for the von der Leyen Commission . At the end of August 2019, Szczerski withdrew his candidacy after Ursula von der Leyen proposed Poland for the portfolio for agriculture . It was subsequently Janusz Wojciechowski nominated.
