Krzysztof Zawadzki

Krzysztof Zawadzki (born January 6, 1959 in Warsaw ) is a Polish fusion and jazz musician ( drums , composer) and band leader.

Zawadzki first learned the accordion at the music school . At the age of 16 he switched to drums, on which he continued his training. After graduating from the music school with honors in 1980, he began studying jazz at the Katowice Music Academy. At the age of 17 he was already playing with the jazz organist Krzysztof Sadowski, but also with Tomasz Szukalski .

Zawadzki was then a member of Janusz Muniak's band for three years , with whom he toured Europe and released an album in 1982. In 1985 he and Janusz Kowalski were invited by Joachim Ernst Berendt to the SWF New Jazz Meeting to play with British musicians such as Iain Ballamy and Django Bates .

In 1985 Zawadzki founded the band Walk Away , which still exists today , with which he won the Grand Prix at the Jazz nad Odra Festival . With this band, which he leads, he recorded several albums and accompanied stars like Mike Stern , Randy Brecker , Eric Marienthal and Urszula Dudziak , with whom she also appeared at the Jazz Jamboree in 1991 . He also performed with Bill Evans and the International Band and was also a member of the Henry McCullough Band and the Acoustic Quartet . He can also be heard on albums by Sławomir Kulpowicz / Njemen , Danuta Rinn , Alicja Majewska and Mulatu Astatke .
