The Eduardo Villanueva district is located in the San Marcos Province in the Cajamarca region in northwestern Peru . The district was established on December 27, 1984. It has an area of ​​62.3 km². The 2017 census counted 2851 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2421, in 2007 it was 2294. The district administration is based in La Grama, at an altitude of 1990  m , with 859 inhabitants (as of 2017). La Grama is located 15 km south-southeast of the provincial capital San Marcos near the confluence of the Río Cajamarca and Río Condebamba to the Río Crisnegas .

Geographical location

The Eduardo Villanueva district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera and there in the extreme southwest of the San Marcos province. The rivers Río Cajamarca and Río Crisnejas form the southwest and southeast district boundaries.

The Eduardo Villanueva district borders in the southeast on the Condebamba district , in the southwest on the Cachachi district (both in the Cajabamba province ), in the far northwest on the Pedro Gálvez district , in the north on the Chancay district and in the far east on the Ichocán district
