Lajos Dinnyés [ ˈlɒjoʃ ˈdiɲːeːʃ ] (born April 16, 1901 in Dabas , † March 3, 1961 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian politician and prime minister.

After studying at an agricultural college, he ran a farm in 1930. Dinnyés had been a member of the Small Farmers' Party since 1930, which he represented in parliament from 1931 to 1939. During the Second World War he was active in the resistance movement.

From 1945 until his death he was a member of the National Assembly and, at times, Vice-President . From March 14, 1947 to September 24, 1947 he was Minister of Defense in Ferenc Nagy's cabinet .

On May 31, 1947, he succeeded him as Prime Minister after Mátyás Rákosi failed to form a government after a day. On December 10, 1948, he was replaced by István Dobi , although he recognized the absolute claim to power of the Communist Party of the Working People. After Finance Minister István Nyárády fled to Switzerland , he was forced to resign.

He then worked as President of the United Agricultural Research Institute before he was Director General of the National Agricultural Library and the National Agricultural Documentation Center from 1952 to 1960.
