Lake Placid is a city in Highlands County in the US state of Florida with 2,223 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lake Placid is about 20 km south of Sebring and about 150 km south and 160 km southeast of Orlando and Tampa .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 2223 inhabitants were distributed over 963 households. The population density was 331.8 inh / km². 69.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 7.1% as African American , 0.4% as Native American and 1.2% as Asian Americans . 19.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.7% to several ethnic groups. 46.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 33.8% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 38.4% of all households. 58.3% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.63 people and the average family size was 3.21 people.
28.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 51.3% of the population were male and 48.7% were female.
The median annual income was $ 36,620, with 26.5% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 62.98% of the population and 37.02% spoke Spanish .

On January 4, 1993, the Old Lake Placid Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
