The Lancaster Township is one of 18 townships in Stephenson County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

The Lancaster Township is located northwest of Illinois, about 20 km south of the border with Wisconsin . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is about 70 km to the west.
The Lancaster Township lies at 42 ° 19'59 "north latitude and 89 ° 34'04" west longitude and extends over 83.13 km², which is spread over 82.87 km² of land and 0.26 km² of water. The southern border of the township is mainly formed by the Pecatonica River coming from Wisconsin , a tributary of the Rock River .
The Lancaster Township is located in the northeastern suburb of the city of Freeport , the center of the entire region. The township borders the Buckeye Township in the northwest , the Dakota Township in the northeast, the Rock Run Township in the northeast, the Ridott Township in the southeast, the Silver Creek Township in the south, the city of Freeport in the southwest and Freeport in the west the Harlem Township .

US Highway 20 , which is the shortest connection from Dubuque , Iowa to Rockford , Illinois, runs through the southwest of the township . The highway is both the north and north-east bypass of Freeport. The Illinois State Route 26 , the northern arterial road of Freeport, also forms the western boundary of Lancaster Township. As the northeastern arterial road from Freeport, Illinois State Route 75 runs through the entire township from southwest to northeast. All other roads are county roads and further subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
Directly on the northern border of the township is the Ronald K. Domink Airport, a small airfield. Albertus Airport near Freeport, around 10 km southeast of the township, is a bit larger .
