Zempelburg district

The Zempelburg district existed between 1939 and 1945 in the German-occupied Polish corridor . On January 1, 1945, the district comprised three cities and 52 other communities.

history

The Sępólno County belonged to Poland between 1920 and 1939 . It emerged from the eastern part of the Flatow district ceded to Poland on January 10, 1920 based on the provisions of the Versailles Treaty . On October 26, 1939, the Polish district of Sępolno, under the former German name of its district town Zempelburg, became part of the newly formed Reichsgau West Prussia - later Danzig-West Prussia - in the new administrative district Bromberg . In January 1945 the district was occupied by the Red Army .

Local constitution

After the attack on Poland , the cities of Kamin (Westpr.), Vandsburg and Zempelburg were subject to the German municipal code of January 30, 1935, which was valid in the Altreich and provided for the enforcement of the Führer principle at the municipal level. The other municipalities were grouped together in administrative districts .

Place names

Due to an unpublished decree of December 29, 1939, the previous Polish place names continued to apply.

With the order to change the place names of the Reich Governor in Danzig-West Prussia of June 25, 1942, all place names were officially Germanized with the consent of the Reich Minister of the Interior. These were all new names, phonetic alignment or translation, for example:

  • Groß Wiesniewke: cherry meadows,
  • Jasdrowo: Hirschhagen,
  • Fireplace: Fireplace (West Pr.),
  • Klein Wiesniewke: Kirschhöhe,
  • Lubcza: Luppsee,
  • Sittnowo: Schüttenau,
  • Soßnow: Sassenau,
  • Sypniewo: Wilckenwalde,
  • Waldau: Dorfwaldau
