The regional association of the former duchies of Bremen and Verden , or Stade landscape association for short , is a registered association in Stade . It is one of the regional associations in Lower Saxony and was founded in 1963.

Geographical jurisdiction

The area of ​​impact corresponds roughly to that of the landscape of the duchies of Bremen and Verden . The named is also a member of today's modern landscape association. It therefore roughly corresponds to the Elbe-Weser triangle . The old duchies of Bremen and Verden - excluding the area around the city of Schneverdingen - and the state of Hadeln formed the Landdrostei Stade in the Kingdom of Hanover and this area had territorial continuity with the former administrative district of Stade until 1978. The geographical area of ​​responsibility of the landscape association includes the former Brunswick Thedinghausen , which is today in the district of Verden, and the former Hamburg city of Cuxhaven , which is now in the district of Cuxhaven, as well as other smaller peripheral areas that have changed their affiliation over the years due to municipal reforms.

Members

Members of the landscape association are the districts of Cuxhaven , Stade , Rotenburg (Wümme) , Osterholz and Verden , 17 cities and municipalities and 39 history, local and cultural associations, as well as the landscape of the former duchies of Bremen and Verden. The board includes two representatives from the landscape, the districts, the cities and municipalities, the associations and one representative from regional historical research.

tasks

The Landschaftsverband Stade endeavors to promote culture, maintain identity and regional marketing. In particular, he does regional cultural work. In addition to its own projects, it supports the cultural projects of its members and of cultural institutions in the funding area. The development of the museum landscape is supported by a full-time museum advisor. With the “Program for the Preservation of Museum Holdings”, together with the Lower Saxony state government, measures for the preservation of museum assets are promoted. In addition, the association organizes an annual "Museum Education Week" in cooperation with a general education school at the museum location. The regional association is also very committed to maintaining and spreading the Low German language. He offers theater seminars for adults as well as for young people. It gives the seminar participants the opportunity to present the skills they have learned in this way on various theater stages in the Elbe-Weser triangle. In addition, the “Theater auf dem Flett” travels with its plays through the region’s home houses, the “Wellenbreker”, the youth theater seminar, is more likely to be presented on school stages. As part of the project at the end of the war, the regional association also dealt with the history of the refugees and displaced persons who settled in the assisted area after the Second World War.

Publications

As part of its activities, the Stade Landscape Association publishes, in addition to the four times a year magazine Heimat und Kultur between Elbe Weser, a scientific series and, since 2001, a likewise scientific, but limited "small" series. One focus of the series is the four-volume history of the region under the title History of the Land between Elbe and Weser , of which three volumes have been published so far (as of April 2020). He has also released several CDs and a video. In addition, the “Zeitschriftenschau”, a directory of articles between the Elbe and Weser, appears regularly. The last printed version of this magazine was published in 2002/2003, since then it has only been offered online.
