The constituency of Magdeburg V (constituency 14) was a Landtag constituency in Saxony-Anhalt , which existed from 1990 to 2002. The constituency of the district-free city of Magdeburg included the districts of Buckau, Fermersleben, Hopfengarten, Leipziger Strasse, Reform, Salbke, and Westerhüsen. In the last state election in 2002 , 40,696 people were eligible to vote in the constituency. For the 2006 state elections , the constituency no longer existed, the Buckau district became part of the Magdeburg II constituency , the remaining districts have since belonged to the Magdeburg IV constituency
Election 2002
The policy change away from the Magdeburg model did not stop at the constituency either. In the first votes, the result of the SPD candidate Katrin Budde almost halved. The CDU candidate Dieter Steinecke, who appeared for the first time, was able to win the constituency for the CDU again for the first time since 1990. The FDP's performance was also remarkable, with its first-time candidate Holger Franke reaching 14.5% from the start. The following candidates stood in the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2002 :

Election 1998
In the third state election, the SPD candidate Katrin Budde was able to win the constituency again with the fourth best result of all direct candidates. The CDU lost again voters and only got a meager 18.4% of the second votes. The DVU, which took part for the first time and achieved a nationwide result of 12.9%, achieved 10.3% in the constituency. Election 1994
Since only three CDU / FDP governments were active in the first legislative period, these two parties and their candidates received the corresponding receipts. The CDU lost the constituency and its candidate Bernd Reisener did not get into the state parliament via the state list, the FDP candidate also lost an enormous amount of votes. For the first time, the SPD candidate Katrin Budde was able to win the constituency. With 25.6%, the PDS achieved the eighth best result nationwide in the second vote. Election 1990
Contrary to the clear election victory of the CDU in the state-wide result in the first state elections since the re-establishment of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the CDU and SPD fought head-to-head in the urban constituency. In the end, this led to the curious result that the CDU won with the first votes, but the SPD won the second votes. The CDU candidate Günter Otterpohl won the constituency.
