The Langenberg is a mountain near Holzhausen-Externsteine in the Teutoburg Forest in the Lippe district , North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). It is divided into the Upper Langenberg ( 418.8  m above sea  level ) and the Lower Langenberg ( 411.3  m ).

Geographical location

The Obere Langenberg is located in the southeast of the Teutoburg Forest in the Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge Nature Park 1.8 km southwest of Holzhausen-Externsteine, a district of Horn-Bad Meinberg , 4.4 km north-northeast of Kohlstädt , 4.5 km northeast of Oesterholz and 1 , 5 km east of the Gauseköte pass . Less than 1 km north-west of it is the Untere Langenberg .

Just past the summit of the Obere Langenberg , a forest path leads through the Berlebeck forest, which connects the Gauseköte on state road  937 in the west with the Externsteinen in the east.

Rhine-Weser watershed

Over both Langeberge extends a part of the Rhein-Weser watershed : The water in the partly dry lying rivulets that the source and watercourses poor drain Southwest region of the mountains flows through the southwest extending Strohte, the upper reaches of tuna , and the westward aspiring lip in the Rhine . The opposite of this is that of the Wiggenbach , which rises north of the mountains and flows north-west, over the north-facing Werre into the Weser .
