Lantapan is a metropolitan parish in Bukidnon Province on Mindanao Island in the Philippines . It has 61,776 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 14 barangays . It belongs to the first income bracket of the communities in the Philippines and is described as partially urbanized .

Their neighboring communities are Sumilao and Baungon in the north, Malaybalay City in the northeast and east, Valencia City in the south and Talakag in the west.

The topography of the municipality is described as mountainous with large canyon-like valleys , in the northwest large parts of the municipality are in the Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park . It is home to the second highest mountain in the Philippines, the 2,938 meter high Dulang-dulang . The Muelta River flows through the area of ​​the municipality, it is considered one of the retreat areas of the now rare Philippines crocodile .

In order to climb the Dulang-dulang, the consent of the Talaandig tribal elders is necessary, as the Talaandig regard the mountain as a sacred place: The Kitanglad Mountains serve as their burial place. It is mandatory to perform a ritual to appease the ancestral spirits before the ascent can begin. The entrance to the Talaandig Ancestral Territory is in Barangay Songco. The Cinchona Reforestation Project has a size of 17.25 km² and is one of the oldest reforestation projects in the Philippines, it is considered one of the main attractions for tourists in the community.
