Talakag is a metropolitan parish in Bukidnon Province on Mindanao Island in the Philippines . It has 71,644 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 29 barangays . It belongs to the first income bracket of the communities in the Philippines and is described as partially urbanized .

Their neighboring communities are Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City in the northwest, Lantapan in the east and Baungon in the northeast. Valencia City is in the southeast, Kalilangan and Pangantucan in the south. In the west it borders on the province of Lanao del Sur . The topography of the municipality is described as mountainous with large canyon-like valleys and large plateaus . In the east are the mountains of Mount Kitanglad and in the southeast the mountains of Mount Kalatungan . The Cagayan River rises on the mountain flanks of the Kalatungan .

The kitanglad mountain range lies to the east of the community; in the southeast is the Mount Kalatungan Range Natural Park . The Borantawan Cave is located in Sitio Bita-ug, Barangay Lantud approx. 24 km outside the community center. It has an almost vertical entry and is around 1,000 meters long.
