Lars Brüggemann (born March 2, 1976 in Hemer ) is a former German ice hockey player who during his active time in the German Ice Hockey League for the Adler Mannheim , the Nuremberg Ice Tigers , the Krefeld Penguins , the Mosquitos , the Iserlohn Roosters , the Hannover Scorpions and the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg played.

From 2008 he was active as an ice hockey referee and directed games in the DEL . On March 21, 2017, he ended his career as a professional referee and started working for the DEL as “Head of Referees”.

Career

The 1.90 m tall defender moved to the Canadian Junior League QMJHL at an early age , where he was on the ice for the Hull Olympiques . After the DEL was founded in 1994, the left shooter returned to Germany to play for Adler Mannheim .

After a year in Mannheim, Brüggemann moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers , which he left after the 1996/97 season for a renewed engagement in North America, this time with the Jacksonville Lizard Kings in the East Coast Hockey League . After only one year, Lars Brüggemann moved back to the DEL to the Krefeld Pinguinen , further stations before moving to Wolfsburg in the 2004/05 season were the Mosquitos Essen , the Iserlohn Roosters , the Hannover Scorpions and most recently the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg. Due to a serious injury, Brüggemann had to end his career after the 2006/07 season.

International

Brüggemann played for the first time at the 1995 U20 World Cup for Germany . At senior level to joining inserts in the 1998 Winter Olympics and the World Championships of 1998 and 2000 .

Referee career

As a result of his early career end as a player, Brüggemann completed training as a referee at DEB from 2008 . Since the beginning of the 2008/09 season he was regularly used as the main referee in regional league games and finally made his debut as the main referee in the DEL on December 1, 2009 . In 2011 he became the third professional referee of the DEL. At the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi and the 2014 World Cup in Minsk, he was the main referee.

On March 21, 2017, he resigned as a professional referee and took over the post of "Head of Referees" at the DEL on May 1, 2017.
