Latiano is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) on the Apulian Salento peninsula with 14,073 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Brindisi . The patron saint of the place is St. Margaret of Antioch . It has been twinned with the city of Pompei since 1980 .

In Latiano is the Museo del sottosuolo , Italy's first museum that deals with the underground world.

The municipality covers an area of ​​54.78  km² . The place is at an altitude of 97 meters above sea level.
