Before the 2015 regional reform, Lauala had an area of ​​14.58 km². Now there are 14.78 km². The Suco is located in the east of the Ermera administrative office. To the west are the Sucos Riheu , Humboe and Estado . In the north Lauala borders on the administrative office Railaco with its Suco Fatuquero and in the south on the administrative office Letefoho with its Suco Eraulo . In the east lies the administrative office of Aileu, which belongs to the municipality of Aileu, with its Sucos Hoholau and Seloi Craic . The border with Riheu is followed by the Roumetalena river , which flows into the Gleno , which in turn, coming from Hoholau, follows the entire northern border of Lauala and is a tributary of the Lóis . The southern border of Lauala extends to the banks of the Lehumos , a larger lake, but which lies entirely in the area of ​​the Sucos Eraulo.

In the north of Lauala are the villages Hutilarang , Hotklokat and Vilanova , in the west on Roumetalena the place Ergoi , in the center the villages Mokorema , Boboe and Railisu and in the south the villages Humela ( Humeta ) and Talebo . The country road from the municipal capital Gleno to Atsabe in the south passes Talebo and Kukhata . There is a primary school in Hotklokat, the Escola Primaria No. 195 Lauala .

In the Suco there are the three Aldeias Ervilhat , Nona Bite and Sari .

Residents

The Suco has 3,150 inhabitants (2015), of which 1,588 are men and 1,562 women. The population density is 213.2 inhabitants / km². There are 503 households in the Suco. Over 98% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. Over 1% speak Mambai and a small minority speak Habun .

history

At the end of 1979 there was an internment camp in Hotklokat for East Timorese civilians ( transit camp ) who were to be relocated by the Indonesian occupiers in order to better fight the FALINTIL .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Carlos Manuel Babo was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Bendito de Araújo Soares won .
