Laura Benanti (born July 15, 1979 in Kinnelon , New Jersey ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Laura Benanti's father, Martin Vidnovic, and her mother Linda are actors. Her mother later married the psychologist Sal Benanti. She gave singing lessons to Laura Benanti.

Benanti made his debut in 1998 in the musical The Sound of Music . She starred in several other plays and was nominated for the role in Swing! In 2000 . and nominated for a Tony Award in 2002 for the role in Into the Woods . In addition, she received a nomination for the Drama Desk Award . Since April 2006 she has played the role of Julia Sullivan in the musical The Wedding Singer on Broadway . In 2008 she received a Tony Award for her supporting role in Gypsy .

In the dance film Dance! Every dream begins with the first step (2006) Benanti played alongside Antonio Banderas . In 2006, the comedy East Broadway followed , in which she played the lead role of Alexandra. In 2008 she played the character of Beth Keller in the television series Eli Stone . She has been parodying Melania Trump , the wife of US President Donald Trump, on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert since 2016 .
