Laurence Mark

Laurence Mark (* approx. 1949 ) is an American film producer .

Life

Mark first attended Wesleyan University and graduated from New York University with a Masters in Film. He then did a short internship at United Artists, whereupon he got a job as a production assistant. He then moved to Paramount Pictures , where he initially held a managerial position in marketing and rose to become vice president of the production department. He then moved to 20th Century Fox in the same position . Mark later started his own production company, with which he signed a long-term contract with Columbia Pictures .

His first film production was the thriller The Black Widow from 1987. After films from various genres such as the comedy My Stepmother is an Alien , the film drama The Prize of Power and the pirate film The Pirate Bride , he received an Oscar nomination in 1997 for the sports film Jerry Maguire - Game of life . His other productions included Besser geht's nicht and the drama Dreamgirls , each of which won three Golden Globe Awards and two Oscars.

In 1996, Mark produced the Broadway production Big , and in 2009 he was nominated for an Emmy for his production at the Academy Awards .
