Laurentius Müller

Laurentius Müller OPraem (bourgeois Anton Müller; born June 13, 1829 in Innsbruck ; † November 16, 1906 there ) was an Austrian Premonstratensian and abbot of Wilten Abbey.

Life

The son of a landowner entered the Premonstratensian foundation in Wilten in 1848 and studied theology at the seminary in Brixen and at the private school in Wilten. In 1851 he made his profession and was ordained a priest in 1852. He then worked in pastoral care in various places in Tyrol : 16 years as a cooperator in Gries im Sellrain , Tulfes , Patsch and Ampaß and from 1868 to 1888 as a pastor in Völs , Wilten , Ampaß and Patsch for twenty years .

After the death of his predecessor Franz Sales Blaas in 1888 he was elected the 50th abbot of the monastery. a. through the restoration of eleven churches incorporated into the monastery ( Aldrans , Tulfes, Judenstein , Sistrans , Amras , Igls , Vill , Ellbögen , on the Blasiusberg in Völs, St. Sigmund im Sellrain , Wilten parish church and Heiligwasser , where he built a summer house and the Had restaurant rooms enlarged). He started u. a. the construction of the new Pradler parish church and created new economic facilities in the monastery, expanded the operation of the art mill and had its own power station built for the monastery. He also reinstated the theological home school and the institute of lay brothers . From 1888 to 1894 he represented the prelate curia in the Tyrolean state parliament and was a member of various committees.

He died on November 16, 1906 after several strokes .
