The 2nd European Athletics U18 Championships took place from July 5 to 8, 2018 in the Hungarian city of Győr . The venue was the athletics stadium of the Olimpiai Sportpark , where the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) took place in 2017 .

On April 23, 2016, the European Athletic Association (EAA) decided at its council meeting in Amsterdam that Győr would host the European Youth Championships 2018.

For the first time, the competitions were also the qualification for the 3rd  Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires in October . The German U18 national coach estimated that around 50 young German athletes would qualify.
