The men's 50 km walk at the 1976 World Athletics Championships was held on the streets of Malmö on September 18, 1976 . It was the only competition at this championship.

World champion was the Olympic runner-up in 1972 , European champion in 1971 and European championship third in 1969, Weniamin soldiersko from the Soviet Union . He won ahead of the Mexican Central America and Caribbean champion in the 20 km walk Enrique Vera . Bronze went to the Finn Reima Salonen .

Note:
At that time, records were not kept in marathon running and street walking because of the different track conditions with the exception of championship records.

World champion Weniamin soldiersko from the Soviet Union set the first world championship record in the competition on September 18 with 3:54:40 h.
