The Leipziger Fußballverband eV (LFV) was an association of football district associations in the Leipzig district . A regional football association had already existed in Leipzig from 1896 to 1905 under the name Verband Leipziger Ballspiel-Vereine . The organization dealt with here was entered in the Leipzig Register of Associations on August 15, 1990. The LFV was a sub -association of the Saxon Football Association (SFV) and an umbrella organization of 6 district associations with a total of 221 clubs and 30,133 members (as of 2008). The last president was Rainer Hertle. On June 30, 2010, the Leipzig Football Association was dissolved as part of the structural reform of the Saxon Football Association. The now 13 Saxon district associations are located directly below the SFV.
