The Manterinbach , called Lentinger Bach on the lower reaches from Lenting , is a right tributary of the Köschinger Bach in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt . After an 8 km long run, the brook flows steadily to the southeast just before the market in Köschinger Weiler Desching in the Köschinger Bach.

geography

The Manterinbach rises between the hamlet of Rackertshofen von Markt Gaimersheim in the west and the eponymous parish village of Wettstetten on a small forest island in the Wettstetten district at an altitude of about 399  m above sea level. NHN . On its course to the southeast, the brook crosses the village of Wettstetten after approx. 0.8 km. Further down the stream is crossed by the district road EI 43 and then changes to the area of the municipality of Lenting . It also flows through its eponymous parish village, which is predominantly on the left. From there on the brook is called Lentinger Bach . Immediately after the end of the village it flows under the A 9 and crosses into the Markt Kösching area . There it flows a little above the hamlet of Desching from the right and at about 372  m above sea level. NHN in the Köschinger Bach. The Köschinger Bach is shorter above the Manterinbach and has a smaller sub-catchment area than this.

Between Wettstetten and Lenting there are some ponds by the stream and also further away. Apart from a few nameless drainage ditches, especially after Lenting, this has no tributaries.

Below Lenting in the so-called Moos , a wide valley floor, the stream was straightened and relocated, which is why the Lentinger Mühle settlement is now some distance away from the course.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Manterinbach, which drains over the Köschinger Bach and the Danube to the Black Sea, covers 34.91 km². It stretches above the source of the brook far to the west-north-west to Hitzhofen and north-north-east to Appertshofen in the municipality of Stammham . West of this place is the highest point at 519  m above sea level. NHN high summit of the Eichelberg.

The catchment area borders on the following neighboring waters:

  • in the north to that of the Schambach and then, for a short time, the Birkenalbach , two tributaries of the Altmühl near Arnsberg and Kipfenberg ;
  • in the northeast to that of the Kelsbach , which flows into an old course of the Danube at Pförring ;
  • in the east is the immediate catchment area of the receiving Köschinger Bach, which flows into the Mailinger Bach near the Danube, also in the tributary of the Danube;
  • in the west-south-west the watershed runs against other tributaries of the Mailinger Bach, which mostly drain through the Retzgraben;
  • Beyond the short watershed to the west, the Pfünz drains the other side back to the Altmühl.

The whole area naturally belongs to the southern Franconian Alb . The watercourse lies in its sub-area Köschinger Molassealb , while the higher parts of the area in the north and west have Anteo in their sub-areas Kaisheimer Alb , Adelschlager plateau and Nassenfelser Molassealb . Because of the karstification , there are no permanent watercourses there.
