Leo August Dietrich Appolinar Feldt (born November 11, 1846 in Braunsberg (Ostpr.) , † June 21, 1928 in Kassel ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Leo Feldt was born the son of a secret government councilor and professor at the Catholic Lyceum Hosianum in Braunsberg, East Prussia. After graduating from the Royal High School in Braunsberg, he began studying law at the Albertus University in Königsberg in 1866 , where he became a member of the Germania fraternity . In September 1869 he passed his legal traineeship at the Braunsberg District Court and then began his military service as a one-year volunteer in the East Prussian Jäger Battalion No. 1 of the Prussian Army .

During this time the Franco-German War began . As an ensign and second lieutenant , Feldt took part in the battles of Colombey , Noisseville and Amiens and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. Under the impact of the war, Feldt decided to become a professional soldier. Feldt married in 1878 and had six children.

During his time as a career officer, Feldt advanced to become an expert in replenishment . After being employed as a company commander in the 2nd Grand Ducal Hessian Infantry Regiment (Grand Duke) No. 116 , Feldt was promoted to major in the secondary budget of the General Staff at the end of March 1890 . At the end of January 1893 he was appointed railway line commissioner in Königsberg. In May 1895 Feldt resigned with the transfer as battalion commander in the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich the Great" (3rd East Prussian) No. 4 in the troop service, advanced to lieutenant colonel a year later and became a service in the railway department of the great General Staff commands. Under position à la suite of his regiment, Feldt was with the rank of regimental commander from March 1897 railway line commissioner in Danzig , rose to colonel at the end of November 1898 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III. Two of his sons died in World War I, in which he was no longer used.
