Leo Weinkauf (born July 7, 1996 in Oldenburg ) is a German soccer goalkeeper . He has been under contract with MSV Duisburg as a loan player from Hannover 96 since 2019 .

Career

Weinkauf was born in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony , and started playing football at VfL Oldenburg , which is located there. However, he enjoyed most of his footballing education in the junior section of Werder Bremen . With his B-youth he once took part in the finals of the German championship , where the team was eliminated in the semi-finals. With the U19 he reached the round of 16 in the 2014/15 DFB Junior Cup .

In the summer of 2015, the committed Bayern Munich wine purchases and put him in his in the League Bavaria playing second team one. In his first season, the goalkeeper played seven times for Bayern, but couldn't get past regular goalkeeper Ivan Lucic and his representative Andreas Rössl. In the following season Weinkauf was able to prove himself as a regular goalkeeper and left Rössl behind after Lucic's change. In addition, he was in the first team's squad for the first time and was allowed to complete the summer preparation with them.

In his last season in Munich, Weinkauf took turns in goal with Christian Früchtl, who was pulled up from the A-youth , and won the runner-up with the team behind promoted and city rivals TSV 1860 Munich . Hannover 96 became aware of his achievements and signed the North German in summer 2018. In his homeland in Lower Saxony, Weinkauf was the goalkeeper for the reserve in the Regionalliga Nord .

A year later , MSV Duisburg and Hannover 96 , relegated to the 3rd division , agreed on a two-year loan deal. Weinkauf went into the season as the first goalkeeper and played all of the season's games, seven of them with a clean sheet. With the zebras he was first autumn champion, but missed the direct resurgence with them in the end.
