Moritz Stoppelkamp (born December 11, 1986 in Duisburg ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with MSV Duisburg .

Career

Stoppelkamp played for Viktoria Buchholz , a club in a district of Duisburg , until he was eleven . He then played for five years in the youth team of MSV Duisburg and at the age of 16 moved to the youth department of Fortuna Düsseldorf , for which he played in the U-17 and U-19. After further youth stations he went to the U-19 of Rot-Weiss Essen in 2004 . There he joined the first team in 2005.

In 2006 he was awarded to Rot-Weiß Erfurt for a year and was a regular player there. For the 2008/09 season he moved to the second division club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , for whom he had his debut on August 17, 2008 (1st matchday) in the 3-0 defeat in the away game against TuS Koblenz . In two years and a total of 46 second division games, he held the class with the club.

For the 2010/11 season , Stoppelkamp moved to Bundesliga club Hannover 96 on a free transfer . He made his Bundesliga debut on matchday one in a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt . In this encounter he was substituted on in the third minute of the game for Carlitos , who had torn a cruciate ligament. On the following ten match days Stoppelkamp was a regular player until he tore his right ankle ligament in the 4-0 draw against eventual champions Borussia Dortmund . In preparation for the 2011/12 season , he scored 26 goals, including twelve goals against TSV Limmer in a 21-0 friendly win. However, he was not a regular player. On the 6th matchday Stoppelkamp played his first game since the 11th matchday of the previous season, again against Borussia Dortmund (2: 1).

In the 2012/13 season , Stoppelkamp joined TSV 1860 Munich . There he was used in all games except for one game in which he was absent due to illness. He scored six goals and prepared eight more.

Before the 2014/15 season , Stoppelkamp moved to the new Bundesliga club SC Paderborn 07 , for whom he made his debut on the first day of the match in a 2-2 draw against 1. FSV Mainz 05 . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on matchday two to make it 3-0 in the 87th minute in the away game at Hamburger SV . On the fourth matchday he scored a goal from 82.3 meters away in a 2-0 win against Hannover 96. With that, he surpassed the previous Bundesliga record of Giorgos Tzavelas , who hit the goal from 73 meters on March 12, 2011. As the first goal of the month for SC Paderborn, the goal was voted Goal of the Month for September 2014 and came second behind Mario Götze's goal in the 2014 World Cup final when it came to goal of the year .

For the 2016/17 season , Stoppelkamp went to Karlsruher SC on a free transfer and signed a two-year contract. He scored his first goal for KSC on matchday 7 in a 2-0 home win against FC Erzgebirge Aue .

Stoppelkamp left Karlsruher SC in 2017 after it was relegated to the 3rd division and went back to his youth club, MSV Duisburg. There he signed a two-year contract with an option for another year. After relegation to the third division in summer 2019, the midfielder extended his contract until June 2021, again with the option for another year. During the preparation for the season, the native Duisburg took over the office of team captain at MSV.

On January 22, 2012, Stoppelkamp wanted to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday with his girlfriend after the 0-0 win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , but was injured on the head by three drunk men with a glass bottle . The wound was sewn with ten stitches in the Friederikenstift (Hanover).

Stoppelkamp was referred to by those around him as "Stolperkamp" or "Verstoppelkamp" during his time at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen .

The “Stoppelkamp-Allee” on the stadium forecourt of SC Paderborn 07 is reminiscent of Stoppelkamp's record goal. It is exactly 82.3 meters, the distance from which he scored the goal in the encounter against Hannover 96 .
