Life in Pieces is an American sitcom produced by Justin Adler for the American television station CBS . The focus of the series is the extended Short-Hughes family, whose story is told in the form of short stories from the perspective of four different people per episode . The German-language publication has been taking place since September 8, 2016 at the video-on-demand provider Amazon Video .

In May 2016, the series was extended by a second season with 22 episodes. On March 23, 2017, the series was extended by a third season, which again includes 22 episodes. On May 12, 2018, the broadcaster extended the series by a fourth season, which will only include 13 episodes. CBS announced the end of the series for the fourth season on May 11, 2019.

The plot of the series is told in four short stories per episode, with a different person from a branch of the three generations of the Short-Hughes family being the focus. The stories overlap with each other.

Production and broadcast

After the pilot was ordered to the series, the actor Colin Hanks, known from the Fargo series, and Betsy Brandt, known from Breaking Bad , were hired for two of the central leading roles in February 2015 . In early May 2015, CBS officially ordered a 13-part first season to pilot.

The series began airing on CBS on September 21, 2015. At the end of October 2015, the station increased the number of episodes in the series to 22 with the so-called back nine order .

In Germany, the series has been available from the video-on-demand provider Prime Video since September 8, 2016 . The free TV broadcast will take place on Comedy Central from January 2019 .
