James Brolin
James Brolin (* 18th July 1940 as Craig Kenneth Bruderlin in Los Angeles ) is an American actor , director and producer .
life and career
Brolin is the son of the building contractor Henry Hurst Bruderlin (1911–2002) and his wife Helen Sue Mansur (* 1915).
Brolin became known through the television series Dr. med. Marcus Welby (1969), for which he was awarded the Emmy and Golden Globe . In the 1980s he had the lead role in the series Hotel, which was also popular in Germany . In 1983 he was to take over from Roger Moore as James Bond in Octopussy , but shortly before filming began, the Bond producers decided in favor of Moore again. His better-known films are from the 1970s: Westworld (1973), Capricorn Company (1978) and Amityville Horror (1979). In recent years he has played increasingly in B-movies or only in small supporting roles in well-known films, such as B. in Traffic - Macht des Kartell (2000) and Catch Me If You Can (2002). For US television he played the role of former US President Ronald Reagan in the 2003 biographical feature film The Reagans . Brolin was married for the first time from 1966 until the divorce in 1984. From the marriage comes a son, the actor Josh Brolin (* 1968), and a daughter (* 1972). From 1986 to 1995 he was married to the actress Jan Smithers (* 1949), with whom he has another daughter (* 1987). Since 1998 Brolin has been married to Barbra Streisand in his third marriage .
Motorsport
Between 1978 and 1982 Brolin was also active as an amateur racing driver in sports car races for several years . He competed in the Daytona 24-hour race and the Sebring 12-hour race , among others .
