Ligonchio ( Emilian : Algûnc or Ligûnchi ) is a fraction of the Italian municipality ( comune ) Ventasso in the province of Reggio Emilia , Emilia-Romagna region .
geography
The place is located about 57 kilometers south-southwest of Reggio nell'Emilia in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park at an altitude of 949 m slm on the orographic left side of the Ozola Valley, a southern side valley of the Secchia Valley. South-east of Ligonchio is the Monte Cusna 2121 m slm , after the Monte Cimone 2165 m slm the second highest mountain in the northern Apennines. Ligonchio is not far from the border with the province of Lucca in Tuscany .
history
Ligonchio is mentioned in a deed of assignment from Mathilde von Canossa in 1076. Ligonchio was an independent municipality until 2015 and merged with the neighboring municipalities of Busana , Collagna and Ramiseto on January 1, 2016 to form the new municipality of Ventasso. The districts of Caprile, Casalino, Cinquecerri, Montecagno, Ospitaletto, Piolo and Vaglie also belonged to the municipality. Neighboring communities were Busana, Collagna, Sillano (LU) and Villa Minozzo . The Secchia formed the north-western border of the municipality. The highest situated municipality in the province of Reggio Emilia until its dissolution belonged to the mountain community Comunità montana dell'Appennino Reggiano .
