The hamlet of Lillinghof is part of the Middle Franconian market of Schnaittach and was originally called Leinlach (= linen), probably after a parcel that was shaped like a cloth. The ending -hof was added later. Later, based on the not far away old town of Lilling, a Lillinghof was made out of it. The Lauf-Lillinghof airfield is located above the rural village on a slope . The neighboring towns are Oberrüsselbach, Oberwindsberg, Unterwindsberg, St. Martin, Freiröttenbach, Oedhof and Schäferhütte.
