The village of Germersberg is a part of the Middle Franconian market Schnaittach .

The village is located on the Hersbrucker Alb and has a predominantly rural character. The Peuntgraben, a tributary of the Röttenbach , rises in a pond at the southern end of the village. The neighboring towns are Freiröttenbach , Großbellhofen , Untersdorf , Laipersdorf , Kirchröttenbach , Illhof and Oedhof .

Around 1280 the place was called Germansperch - so it was the settlement of a certain German on a mountain. However, today's pronunciation in the East Franconian dialect , Giamaschboch , could lead to the wrong conclusion that the place name is derived from the location on a stream.

Since the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the Rothenberg rule .

The municipality with its district Laipersdorf , which was independent until the municipality reform, was incorporated into Schnaittach in 1971.
