Osterohe is a parish village that belongs to the market Schnaittach in the district of Nürnberger Land .

The place in the Franconian Jura is a tourist destination, not least because of the 1000 meters longest ski run in Middle Franconia . It can be covered with snow with snow cannons .

The Ostrohe Castle, which has only survived as a ruin , was built by the Lords of Easter in the 11th century. Through the Hohenlohe dynasty , the castle came into the possession of the burgraves of Nuremberg , who established an office in the princely palace. In the Second Margrave War destroyed (1552-1554), the plant was rebuilt and in the 18th century after looting in the War of Spanish Succession abandoned to final decay. In 1773 the painter Johann Leonhard Hoffmann made a floor plan and views of the ruin. The cartographer Johann Christoph Stierlein was still able to record individual buildings in 1792, today only remnants of the curtain wall can be seen.

On July 1, 1971, Osternohe was incorporated into the Schnaittach market.

There is a drag lift on Schloßberg in Osternohe. This is managed both in summer and in winter. The neighboring forest is used as a bike park in summer and the meadow as a (artificially snowed) ski slope in winter. The bike park, built in 2014, is one of the few in the area and is accordingly highly frequented. Big mountain bike events take place there every year. Rescue missions regularly take place there, which are carried out by the Nuremberg mountain rescue service, the Lauf mountain rescue service and the Nuremberg rescue helicopter Christoph 27 .
