Lin Chia-ying ( Chinese  林家瑩 , Pinyin Lín Jiā-yíng; born November 5, 1982 in Taichung ) is a Taiwanese shot putter .

Athletic career

Lin Chia-ying gained her first international experience at the 1999 World Youth Championships in Bydgoszcz , where she was eliminated from the qualification with 12.41 m. At the Summer Universiade 2005 in Izmir , she took ninth place with 14.94 m. This was followed by eighth place at the Asian Championships in Incheon . In 2006 she won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Doha with 16.70 m. In 2007 she also won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Amman . At the Summer Universiade in Bangkok she finished sixth and qualified for the World Championships in Osaka , where she was eliminated with 16.41 m in qualification.

In 2008 she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Valencia and the Olympic Games in Beijing , but did not reach the final both times. In 2009 she finished fourth at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou and won the bronze medal at the Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi , as well as at the East Asian Games in Hong Kong . In 2010 she finished fourth at the Asian Games in Guanzhou and fifth at the 2011 Asian Championships in Kobe . In 2012 she took part again in the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated with 17.43 m in qualification .

In 2013 she finished sixth at the Asian Championships in Pune and won the silver medal at the East Asian Games in Tianjin . In 2014, she won the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships in Hangzhou and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot with 16.31 m. At the Asian Games in Incheon, she improved her own national record to 17.48 m and finished fourth. In 2015 she finished fourth at the Asian Championships in Wuhan , as well as at the Asian Championships in 2017 in Bhubaneswar two years later. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the fifth time and finished fourth again with 16.30 m. The following year she was at the Asian Championships in Doha with 15.32 m sixth.

From 2005 to 2007 and 2018, Lin became the Taiwanese Master in Shot Put. She is a graduate in Exercise Science from the National Taipei University of Education .
