Lina Wladimirowna Krasnoruzkaja ( Russian Лина Владимировна Красноруцкая , scientific transliteration Lina Vladimirovna Krasnoruckaja ; English spelling Lina Krasnoroutskaya ; born April 29, 1984 in Obninsk , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian Tenniss .
Career
Krasnoruzkaya, who loved to play on grass, started playing tennis at the age of three. In 1999 she won the individual title of the US Open in the junior women against Nadia Petrova . At the age of 15 she turned professional and played her first ITF tournaments, soon afterwards also on the WTA tour . She made her debut at the 1999 tournament in Luxembourg , where she immediately reached the semi-finals. After victories over Magdalena Maleeva and Silvia Farina, she was only narrowly defeated by tournament favorite Dominique Van Roost in three sets.
On June 21, 2003 she secured her only WTA title in doubles at the grass tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch on the side of Jelena Dementjewa .
In singles, she was in the quarterfinals of the French Open in 2001 and shortly afterwards in the second round of Wimbledon. Sieg climbed to 22nd place in the world rankings, but fell far behind in the following year due to injury.
In 2003 she won in Doha against the top seeded Monica Seles and Conchita Martinez on the way to the semifinals. In Toronto she celebrated her greatest success and stood after a victory over the world number one Kim Clijsters in the final, where she was outnumbered Justine Henin .
In 2001 she played her only game for the Russian Fed Cup team against Slovakia .
In mixed she was in the final of the US Open in 2003 with Daniel Nestor . There they were defeated in the shortened decisive set of the pairing Katarina Srebotnik / Bob Bryan with 5:10.
Krasnoruzkaja had her last official appearance in January 2005 at the Australian Open , when she failed there in the singles in the qualification and in the doubles in round one.
Eventually Lina ended her career. In her short professional career, she won just under US $ 1 million in official prize money.
