history

The club was founded in 1976 by Charles Polson. The first team for the 4th division was made up of junior players from Glacis United FC (the series winner at the time in Gibraltar), the Blue Batons police youth team and St. Jago's FC. They also formed the bulk of the successful U-15 squad. When the players were old enough for regular game operations, Lincoln FC registered for the second division in Gibraltar in 1980/81. In the 1983/84 season they rose to the first division. From 2003 to 2016, Lincoln won the championship 14 times in a row. You could also win the national cup competition eight times in a row from 2004 to 2011.

After Gibraltar joined UEFA in 2013, the team qualified for the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League by winning the 2014 championship . There they met HB Tórshavn from the Faroe Islands . In the first leg, the two teams separated 1: 1. Lincoln lost the second leg in Tórshavn 2: 5. Lincoln FC is the first team from Gibraltar to play in the Champions League.

In the 2015/16 season, Lincoln reached the first qualifying round of the Champions League. There they won against the Andorran champions FC Santa Coloma 2-1 and thus became the first Gibraltar team to compete. In the second qualifying round they lost against the Danish champions FC Midtjylland with 0: 3.

Lincoln achieved their greatest success in the second qualifying round of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League , when 47-time Scottish champions Celtic were beaten 1-0 in the first leg .
