Left eye
Lisa Nicole Lopes (born May 27, 1971 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † April 25, 2002 in Jutiapa , Honduras ), better known by her stage name Left Eye, was an American singer , rapper and member of the R&B trio TLC .
Life
Lisa Lopes was musically influenced by her father, Ronald E. Lopes, who mastered several instruments. She first appeared at school parties and talent competitions. Due to the constantly changing residence of her parents, she came to Atlanta , where she met the later members of TLC.
After the release of her debut album Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip from 1992, and a single, before the release of the follow-up album CrazySexyCool (1994), Lisa Lopes hit the headlines when she was out of anger in the bathroom and set sneakers on fire with the aid of light gasoline. The fire got out of control, the 1.5 million villa of her then friend Andre Rison burned down to the ground. The resulting media hype made the singer internationally known. The CrazySexyCool album sold over ten million times.
After the third TLC album FanMail from 1999, Lopes appeared in other productions such as B. 2000 together with Spice Girl Melanie C in the song Never Be the Same Again and in Space Cowboy with * NSYNC . She also discovered the group Blaque Ivory and released the solo album Supernova , which was only released in Europe.
While working on the second solo album and the fourth album by TLC, she died in a car accident in Honduras in April 2002. She was driving a Mitsubishi Montero unbuckled in La Ceiba on the highway carretera pavimentada , avoiding an oncoming truck. Her SUV came off the road and overturned in a ditch. While everyone else in the vehicle survived, Lopes died of her head injuries.
Her brother Ronald E. Lopes founded the Lisa Lopes Foundation after her death , which aims to help abandoned and neglected young people in Honduras. The foundation wants to give them access to funds to improve their quality of life. Lisa Lopes was already working for people in Honduras in the late 1990s.
