List of motorway junctions and triangles in Saxony

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of motorway junctions and triangles in Saxony contains all intersections or junctions of motorways in the area of the Free State of Saxony .

description

Seven motorways run through Saxony: Federal Motorway 4 ( Frankfurt am Main - Görlitz ), Federal Motorway 9 ( Munich - Berlin ), Federal Motorway 13 ( Dresden - Berlin ), Federal Motorway 14 ( Nossen - Magdeburg ), Federal Motorway 17 (Dresden - Prague ), the federal autobahn 38 ( Leipzig - Göttingen ) and the federal autobahn 72 ( Hof - Chemnitz ). These motorways meet six times within the Free State, four times as a motorway triangle (junction) and twice as a motorway intersection. Two of these structures are located in the metropolitan areas of Dresden (Dresden-Nord, -West) and Leipzig (Parthenaue, Schkeuditz), one of them in the metropolitan area of Chemnitz and the Nossen triangle between Dresden and Chemnitz.

The history of the motorway junctions and triangles in Saxony begins with the release of the Schkeuditz cross on November 21, 1936 under the National Socialists . However, the motorway to Berlin was not yet completed, so the cross was not fully used until 1938. In the same year, the Bautzner triangle , today's Dresden-North triangle , was released. The triangle near Chemnitz was opened in 1939 . Due to the Second World War , the construction work on the motorways had to be canceled, so it was not until 1971 in the GDR that the Nossen – Leipzig motorway was completed and the Nossen junction was built .

After the reunification, the Saxon intersection structures were given the nationwide uniform designation "Autobahnkreuz" or "Autobahndreieck". The motorways were poorly maintained in the GDR era, so that all motorway junctions and triangles were renovated in the 1990s and 2000s and adapted to the increased volume of traffic. The Schkeuditzer Kreuz received a semi-direct ramp and the Dresden (-Nord) triangle was expanded. With the construction of the federal motorway 17 to Prague, the Dresden-West triangle was built on the A4, and the Dresden triangle was then renamed the Dresden-North triangle. For the east-west connection Leipzig – Göttingen, the federal motorway 14 was connected to the A 38 via the Parthenaue triangle .

The triangle Chemnitz was in the mid-2000s to cross Chemnitz rebuilt, the continuation of the federal highway 72 from Chemnitz by the Leipziger Land in the fair site is currently under construction. The A 72 will lead south of Leipzig to the Bundesstraße 2 and this will be upgraded in sections to the A 72, making its motorway junction Leipzig-Süd on the A 38 the third Saxon motorway junction.
