List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of Kempten (Allgäu)
The list of mayors and mayors of Kempten shows all known office holders of the city of Kempten since 1356 who have the title of mayor or mayor .
The first representative of the citizenship in the Kempten town hall was Heinrich Schultheiß. The families of the guild masters and patricians often provided the mayors, sometimes for several generations. The coats of arms of the most important patrician families are painted on the town hall gable. These include the König , Seuter , Dorn , Stadtmüller , Kesel , Schmelz, Jenisch and Neubronner families .
On March 16, 2014, Thomas Kiechle (CSU) was elected Lord Mayor of Kempten in the first ballot. Sibylle Knott (Free Voters) is the second mayor and Josef Mayr (CSU) is the third mayor.

Unification of the imperial and collegiate city
On February 1, 1811, the work of the previous Imperial City of Kempten ended. The collegiate town had been subordinated to Bavarian officials as early as 1803. The formerly warring cities were united by an imperial order and administered as a Bavarian country town by a municipal council . The royal Bavarian city judge or commissioner and police director took over the duties of the mayor. Mayors were not re-elected until 1818.
