List of fountains in Berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of fountains in Berlin is a compilation of all fountains , paddling fountains or drinking fountains that previously existed in the Berlin districts or will still be in the 21st century , which were artistically designed and are in public space . Private jewelry water systems are not included. The tables are subdivided into partial lists by district and do not claim to be complete.

introduction

In total there are around 300 public fountains in Berlin. Around 270 of them were serviced and kept running by the district offices. In 2017, Berliner Wasserbetriebe took over the wells and their maintenance.

Bathing in the fountain is forbidden mainly for hygienic reasons - but it is tolerated. Many wells can only be operated by sponsors.

Emergency water pumps

The “ clumsy ” also not included in the list of wells , those mostly green street pumps that are used to supply water from decentralized sources instead of the water network, are shown separately in the lists of street wells in Berlin . So far (as of May 2019) the systems in six districts ( Pankow , Lichtenberg , Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg , Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf , Mitte , Tempelhof-Schöneberg ) have been recorded, whereby the overview from the district office is based on three districts (Pankow, Lichtenberg, Friedrichshain / Kreuzberg), the other districts will be gradually added.
