List of street fountains in the Reinickendorf district of Berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of street fountains in the Berlin district of Reinickendorf is an overview of the currently existing fountains in the districts of the district.

The elements of the list were described as street furniture . Not listed here are the ornamental fountains, fountains and drinking fountains in the district, which have their own lemma.

overview

According to information from the district office in response to a written request for city councilors from February 2017, there are 156 emergency water pumps in the district, and 183 were specified for 2005. According to printed matter 17/15418, there are 146 Landesbrunnen in the district, plus those assigned to civil defense. As of 1998, 166 were named. Typical for the drinking water notices in the district are A4-sized signs above the outlet pipe. This draws attention to the ban on washing cars on these water dispensers. It is desirable that water is drawn off as continuously as possible. However, when washing cars in the street there is a risk that pollutants could get into the groundwater or the street drainage with the runoff. This is how the prohibition signs are explained. Stickers and signs - only in German - mark on many wells No drinking water , officially for Reinickendorf 87 are marked as unsuitable for drinking water.

The list of emergency water wells contains found locations and well bodies. The basis was the “Berliner Plumpen” project in OpenStreetMap , which was started in 2007 , supplemented by a list of state fountains from 2015 and systems inspected on site were recorded. Some of the Schliephack pumps in the district had already been replaced by other well columns in the 2010s: A comparison of the Template: future / in 5 yearswells currently ( as of 2019) with older views from 2008 was made possible by using Street View . The official map series “City Map of Berlin” on a scale of 1: 4,000 was used for additional information.

In 2015, according to official information, 43 emergency wells were marked with the sign “No drinking water”. The A4-size “no car washing signs” are characteristic of the district. Since the water outlet pipe was torn on two wells (2019), it can be seen why waist-high bollards and posts are placed at many (especially newly erected) wells in necessary locations as protection against being hit by vehicles parked on the roadside.

The four-part fountain bodies, which are (probably) typical of Reinickendorf and more widespread than in other districts. They consist of the base tube (stand) that is screwed to the base tube. The water outlet is welded to an attached pipe. The upper “cylinder cap” is placed over an intermediate tube for the piston rod, and the pump handle is attached to its side extension. The connection from the handle hook is (covered) connected to the piston rod. These four pipe sections are firmly joined together with bulges, the cap with the handle attachment is pressed onto the cranked intermediate pipe. Balls on the handle of the handle make the pump swing easier. Fountain bodies made by the metal construction company "Freyer & Sohn" are primarily located in Tegel, made from the pipe with an outlet on the source base and an attached handle attachment. Six of the 176 fountains on the list have been dismantled, in Lübars there is an old fountain in the street area and in Alt-Wittenau there is a decorative fountain in a courtyard by the church. According to the form stand ( Template: future / in 5 years2019) in the district:

  • 81 of the four-part columns typical of Reinickendorf. It is noticeable here that a separate column insert for the water outlet is fitted between the lower part (stand) and the intermediate part. This makes it easier to replace the water outlet if it is damaged. The head part of the stand body has a slightly larger diameter than the three column parts. In the head part, the lever fork engages in the piston rod and transfers the leverage into the stroke of the piston.
  • 55 FSH fountain, which has the column with outlet and rod attached to it on a stand and the attachment on which the handle hook (hidden) grips on the piston rod. These wells are also suitable for deep groundwater areas.
  • 05 Schliephacke or Rümmler fountain, functional fountain bodies from the 1960s. They have already been replaced several times when their function failed. They are in the list with the marking as overbore.
  • 06 fountains are from Freyer & Sohn
  • 04 Krausebrunnen from the 1920s, some of them have been worked up in the fountain body
  • 08 Borsigbrunnen, hexagonal columns introduced in the 2010s (also composed of four sub-sections). At some locations these are replacing already failed wells, in some cases they are (probably) set up at newly drilled (neighboring) locations.

Information on decommissioned and street fountains that were newly built or put back into operation in the years 2010–2015 were (after the printed matter) for the submission of the MPs street fountains - a discontinued model? not received in time. The groundwater situation in Frohnau is determined by the inland dunes that lead to the main aquifer. The depth of the upper groundwater channel (distance from the corridor) is up to 40 meters at well locations, to the south through Hermsdorf the distance is reduced by up to three meters. The low elevation of the suitable groundwater channel in the deliberate choice of location requires sufficient pumping equipment for spring boreholes of 60 meters. For the area of the Märkisches Viertel there was mostly no suitable information to be taken from the underlying map of the corridor distances.

Notes on the list of emergency water wells found

According to the information from the Reinickendorf district office in November 2019, there are a total of 208 wells in the district, compared to 190 in 2009. 45 locations are therefore not immediately suitable for drinking water purposes because of chemical and 16 because of bacteriological contamination. In response to a written request from the district office in 2017, 156 functioning wells were named for 2016. The following list ( Template: future / in 5 yearsas of 11/2019) contains 176 entries, eleven referring to dismantled or stored street wells or decorative street wells. With a target of 1500 inhabitants per well, the number of inhabitants (334,351) results in a need for 173 street wells .

Abbreviations from the LOR lists of the statistics office are used for the districts of the district.

The list can be sorted according to districts, corridor distance of the groundwater (in 2009) and pump shape. Property numbers that cannot be identified are marked in brackets and in some cases with a preceding "#" in the address. In the description, significant circumstances are compiled and supplemented with photographs and can also be viewed on Wikimedia Commons, broken down by district. Since the operating status can be changed due to different subjective (vandalism) or objective influences (silting, water quality), an individual, prompt on-site assessment is necessary. Regular use is expressly desired.

The list also includes state wells that have been abandoned since the 2010s; such locations are usually closed, the wells dismantled and stored if they can be reused after repair. Such locations are made usable again by over-drilling. The fountain is initially shut down, although it remains unclear whether a fountain will be built in the same place or in the vicinity. The financial requirement for an over-drilled street well is calculated at 28,000 euros. The financing of the new construction of road wells is an investment measure and would have to be made by the district from the lump-sum investment allocation that was allocated to the district for civil engineering maintenance. For the 2020s, the district has so far 17 such tasks to solve in addition to the upcoming repair work.

The coordinates of locations that could not be precisely marked are marked with the addition "??" in the name of the location. Reasons for this can be the lack of a found well stand, an otherwise disused well or ambiguities in the allocation of places and installations, such as the missing blue squares in the geoportal "Inspection data 2014" of the road inspection initiated by the Senate for the digitization of street furniture and equipment.

Falkenplatz (Berlin-Konradshöhe) .JPG
For Konradshöhe, Am Falkenplatz (in the Konradshöhe / Tegelort neighborhood ) is listed in the answer to the pirate party as “Brunnen Am Falkenplatz (zip code: 13505)”. However, such a facility could not be identified with certainty either in the Google image from 2008 or during the inspection in March 2019. In 2020, the location can no longer be assigned to the square including the playground, as well as the adjacent streets in the immediate vicinity (Stößer-, Sandhauser, Rabenhorst-, Habicht-, Raben-, Eicheljäserstraße). It is 500 meters to the west to the banks of the Havel. There is no road well in the entire village. The fountain at Falkenplatz was therefore shut down in Konradshöhe before 2010 and probably stored. However, the 2020 investment plan provides for the dismantled well to be repaired as soon as the corresponding financial resources have been approved in the district budget. An over-drilling is noted so that it can be used again.

The three-part fountain of the type FSH, which has been erected since then, was already missing the handle in spring 2019. This broke off at the approach outside of the pivot pin and the rust at the break point proves damage that has existed for some time. The two safety posts on the side facing the roadway to prevent damage caused by driving were already in place in 2008. The outlet on the well is attached to a short extension of the column. The property Alt-Wittenau 38 includes the building complex 38-38v and was the homestead of the former Lehnschulzen Rosentreter. Due to the location in the village ensemble on the Wittenauer Anger opposite the old village church, the listed buildings were developed into 46 rental apartments between 1970 and the 1990s. A Krausebrunnen was set up as a decorative element on the recreation area in the courtyard of the building complex, as it could have been in the days of the farm. Although the pavement forms a hollow under the outlet pipe, the fountain does not function. The handle cannot be lifted and a shaft to the groundwater is also missing. At the foot of the fountain, the cast year “1978” and “Berlin” mark the affiliation of the fountain body to the 1920s specimens from the Krause iron foundry in Neusalz / Oder, reconstructed in the 1970s.

Unresolved / abandoned locations

The list from the response printed matter of the House of Representatives from 2017 also contains the locations of street wells without further details on the precise location. No indications were found for 2008 from the use of the images in Street View. Based on the sources, it can be assumed that wells still present in the 1980s were dismantled by 2005. According to printed matter 18/10 377, there were 156 street fountains in the Reinickendorf district in 2016/2017, 183 around 2007 and 166 street fountains in 1998. The locations of the emergency water wells that could not be found during the inspection were, as far as possible, included in the table above with newer official information, mostly they were decommissioned source wells that are to be re-established by overdrilling or new drilling.

  • Hermsdorf: Falkentaler Steig in LOR-Kiez Hermsdorf . Distance from corridor: 4–7 m. A fountain is included in the list of the Senate for the House of Representatives with Falkentaler Steig (zip code: 13467). The Falkentaler Steig continues Heinsestrasse on Hermsdorfer Damm to the northwest and belongs to the postcode indicated up to plot 96 and 97 before the bend. The street is parallel to the S-Bahn line. With the exception of 47/49 and 51 (at that time on the opening Kneippstrasse), the plots were already built on by 1960. Retirement homes (47/49 and 51) on the Falkentaler Steig were built on the property after 1970. The (former) street corner is 250 meters from Brunnen location 50 (Freyer Column Kneipp- / Drewitzer Straße). The Golzteich is 120 meters to the west.
The fountain is owned by the State of Berlin .

Size of the neighborhood and number of wells set up

In the legal requirements from the 1960s, “extraction points for emergency water supply in the event of a disaster” are required for 1,500 to 2,500 residents. In the district (as of 2019) there are 208 wells for 265,225 residents, on average one emergency water point can supply 1,300 residents. The following table gives an overview of the distribution of the (found) “clumsy” areas in planning areas ( Kiez ) according to the system of living-world-oriented rooms (LOR). The usage categories of the areas of the planning area have been added.

  17. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r When a well is shut down or refurbished, the filter section lying in the ground, the attachment pipes and the annular space filling are removed by "over-drilling" and the borehole is filled with pressed material and locked. The location is closed with a manhole cover or adapted to the surrounding soil. A manhole cover is particularly important when a new installation takes place at the same location as soon as the necessary finances are available again. The term overbore is based on the fact that a larger diameter than the existing "source" diameter is usually lowered. In addition, locations marked with over-drilling are primarily brought back into operation by means of new drilling in the vicinity.
