List of street fountains in the Berlin district of Spandau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of street wells in the Berlin district of Spandau is an overview of the existing groundwater wells in the districts of the district.

Constantly running drinking water wells and wells with decorative and decorative functions operated on the water network are ignored for this list.

overview

The Schliephack pumps were widespread in the Spandau district; they are painted in a dark yellow shade. Since the end of the 2000s, these almost 50-year-old emergency water systems have been replaced by unadorned, green-lacquered fountain columns (FSH, hardly any Wolf pumps in the district). FSH pumps allow a higher delivery head. The reason for the exchange may be the damage that has occurred to the drill bed or the systems due to aging. This replacement, like general repairs, is dependent on the financial resources available from the district administration. A district-typical special feature of the on-site tour in the 2010s are large metal signs (about A4 size ) with the note “No drinking water”, which are fastened directly to the pump column with screws. Red-framed signs (sometimes only at the same height as the writing) are in addition to smaller notices stuck on to fountain stands. A special feature of the district is the Staaken community in the GDR district of Nauen, which was established in 1945 through the exchange of territories between the British and the Soviets, and West Staaken only came under the responsibility of the Spandau district again when the Wall fell in 1990. This meant that street wells for emergency water supply were only exhibited here in the 1990s, preferably Schliephackebrunnen (Rümmler pumps). However, these were renewed by FSH columns. What is remarkable in the district is the high level of operational readiness of the Spandau street fountain.

According to information from the district office in response Template: future / in 5 yearsto a written request in the House of Representatives, 38 were determined to be unsuitable for drawing drinking water. According to printed matter 17/15418 there were 74 state wells in the district. The following list was supplemented by the list of Landesbrunnen enclosed in printed matter 17/15418. The wells that are the responsibility of the federal government for emergency use may not be completely included in the list.

For the water supply in Spandau in 1895 only the 70 public street wells of the city of Spandau were available for 60,000 inhabitants. The growing population caused the city to commission engineer Walter Pfeffer with the planning of the water supply in 1889. The waterworks (on Pionierstrasse) was finally opened in 1897. In addition, there was the water tower on the corner of Birkenstrasse and Falkenberger Strasse (height 48 m, volume 700 m³) which existed until 1937 and in 1911 the new water tower was built on Feldstrasse and Blumenstrasse, which existed until 1932 due to the increasing building height.

The height distribution from the north of Spandau with terrain heights (in NHN) around 30 m (Warsaw-Berlin glacial valley) and the south (Gatow / Kladow: Nauener Platte) with 40–50 m is important for the groundwater situation.

Striking in the district is the almost continuous use of FSH pumps on a well stand, which have been installed at least uniformly since the (end of) 1990s and in particular replace the older Schliephacke wells (also known as Rümmler pumps). In addition, the degree of operational street wells compared to operational readiness is comparatively very high.

Basically, road wells are checked twice a year by the road authority. As a result, repairs or renewals are carried out and, if the source fails, a new location is chosen. The body of the well can be stored temporarily. For this list, images from July 2008 and autumn 2009 were used for comparison with the on-site inspection, so changes in the 2010s can be identified. The answer to the printed matter 18/10377 gives from the district office Spandau for 2016 (status: February 20, 2017) 120 "functional and in operation road wells ", compared to 87 for the years 2006/2007. In 2017, 49 wells were marked with the sign “No drinking water”. In the same printed answer, it is pointed out that there is a need to catch up in setting up street wells, especially in outskirts and new construction areas.

A current location determination results from the presentation of the results of the road inspection, which was commissioned by the Senate in 2014/2015 . The street furniture and pieces of equipment were then digitally evaluated and displayed on map material under the geoportal of the state survey office. The map material can be accessed via the link on the geoportal. The map details that are important for this article can be accessed using the search term “Straßenbefahrt 2014” and the relevant address. The locations of the road wells are marked with a blue square. Various map material can be selected as the background for the display. The overview of the locations of Berlin street fountains can be obtained via an OSM-supported map in a comparison of the WP-recorded and the plump recorded in 2014.

Notes on the road wells for the emergency water supply

The list can be sorted according to districts, corridor distance of the groundwater (in 2009) and pump shape. Property numbers that cannot be identified are marked in brackets and in some cases with a preceding "#" in the address. The numbers on the pillars were used in the list as identification numbers, they correspond to the marking in the road authority and (probably also) the commissioned well construction company. In the description, significant circumstances are compiled and supplemented with photographs and can also be viewed on Wikimedia Commons, broken down by district.

According to the information provided by the Spandau District Office in November 2019, there are a total of 128 wells in the district, compared to 116 in 2009. Accordingly, 20 locations are not directly suitable for drinking water purposes because of chemical and 10 because of bacteriological contamination. For 2016, 120 functional wells were named by the district office in response to a written request from 2017. The list ( Template: future / in 5 yearsas of 11/2019) contains 98 entries, two of which relate to dismantled or stored street wells. With a target of 1500 inhabitants per well, the number of inhabitants (334,351) means that 158 street wells are required .

Abbreviations of the statistics office are used for the districts of the district.

The additional facts noted in the well list were determined in 2019. The markings with numbers were not recognizable on some wells bodies; instead, “- * -” is set in the list. For wells that are no longer available / cannot be found, <dismantled> is entered in the list, such entries refer to the year 2019 (unless otherwise noted). With regular water quality samples or complex controls by commissioned well companies, further changes can occur constantly. If necessary, the timely condition at the respective location must be determined individually .

The list also includes state wells that have been shut down since the 2010s. Usually such locations are closed, the wells dismantled and stored so that they can be used again after repair. Such locations are made usable again by over-drilling. For the well, which was closed for various reasons, it remains unclear whether new drilling will take place in the same location or in the vicinity. The financial requirements for an over-drilled street well are calculated by the district at 30,000 euros. The financing of the new construction of road wells is an investment measure and would have to be made by the district from the lump-sum investment allocation that was allocated to the district for civil engineering maintenance. So far, the district has six such tasks to solve for the 2020s in addition to the upcoming repair work. In addition to repairs to the pumping station, the frost valve and, in one case, to the stator body, 23 repairs are shown for repairs in the 2020 planning. According to the new legal regulations that the draining pump water should not get into the groundwater, the installation of twelve street inlets under the water outlets is specified as a replacement for the collecting plates.

A total of 128 intact street wells are specified for the Spandau district, with an average of one tap available for every 2000 residents. The responsibility lies with 75 state and 53 federal wells. With six over-drilling and 23 necessary repairs to state wells, an investment of around 230,000 euros is set in 2020. In the district, the street wells are in good condition compared to other districts. According to printed matter 18/21334, the health department marked 20 wells with chemical contamination and ten with bacterial contamination for use as drinking water (as of 2019).

The fountain location is on the corner of Spandauer Strasse. In 2008 there was no fountain at this point. This western side of the street was part of the Berlin Wall . The western properties (Weststaaken) had come to the Soviet Zone in 1945 through the exchange of areas between the Soviets and the British for the Gatow airfield and then to the GDR district of Potsdam. The post office and school were used differently in the border area. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, these are again Spandau area. Opposite house 39 is fallow land, the property belongs to the Lindenschule Staakener Feldstrasse 6-8. This new building was built around 2000 and in the 2000s the housing estates of the Staakener Mühlenviertel followed south of the branching Staakener Feldstrasse in the arch of the (at the same time extended) Brunsbütteler Damm. In house 39 opposite there is the restaurant "Grenzck". The fountain is screwed to the base pipe with the foot and the street inlet on a concrete rectangle. This lies between customs on the curb of the road country. The water outlet is screwed to the extension piece on the long sleeve of the pump body above the stand. The working well is aligned with handle and outlet parallel to the roadway.

This type of fountain was commissioned after the Wall was built and during the Cold War in western Berlin . The fountain, which was replaced in 2012, has a short sleeve on the fountain body with the attachment for screwing the water outlet. At the foot of the well there is also the street inlet for discharging the adjacent pump water. It is also noteworthy that there is no sign of “no drinking water” at the well. The green FSH fountain complements the Plumpenorte in Haselhorst in the east of Haselhorst at the junction of Paulsternstraße from the turning Gartenfelder Straße. The eastern properties in Siemensstadt are on the Gartenfelder / Paulsternstrasse street, as is the ambulance station (Paulsternstrasse 34) opposite the fountain site. The design of the street layout in the 1960s / 1970s took place after the tram line in Haselhorst was discontinued in 1960 and the industrial line to the Siemens factory in Gartensfeld was discontinued. The fountain is on the edge of the sidewalk on the north side of Gartenfelder Strasse: block of flats 56/58, on the south side residential houses will be built in 2019 on remaining allotment grounds (Paulstern colony). The fountain is located between the tram triangle, which was closed 60 years ago. The sticker "No drinking water" is damaged, the street inlet is under the pipe elbow of the water outlet. The FSH pillar was already set up in July 2008. The bus stop is 20 meters from the Brunnen to Haselhorst.

The fountain stood at the east end of Radelandstrasse, south sidewalk. The Radelandstraße extends over the districts of Hakenfelde and Falkenseer Feld; It starts at number 2/4 in the east on Hohenzollernring / Fürstenweg and continues in the two-part Hohenzollernring, in the west it ends after 3.4 kilometers on Griesingerstraße and continues into Niederheideweg. The street fountain 150 was on the south side of the street in the tree line in front of the roundabout with the monument "Pioneer Battalion Rauch". The location was on the sidewalk 20 meters next to the entrance to Stadtbad Spandau Radelandstrasse 1. The fountain was shut down and pulled at the beginning of the 2010s. In the 2020s, the re-establishment of this location was started and provided for in the investment plan registration of the district office with 30,000 euros through over-drilling.

According to evidence, the well was shut down and pulled in 2010. For 2020, with an investment of 30,000 euros, the road well will be re-established by over-drilling. The fountain would then be the second in the Graetschelsteig planning area. The neighboring residential development is within the Askanierring in Spandauer Neustadt in the area of the Hügelschanze. The fountain on the eastern sidewalk stands with its street inlet in a paving triangle adjacent to the curb. The water outlet on the FSH column stops without a long sleeve, and above it the large information sign (TBASp) for drinking water. In 2008, the yellow Schliephacke fountain is at this point, the replacement probably took place from the middle of the 2010s, with the pumped water previously draining over the curb. There was an opening with a lid near the base of the well. Currently (July 2019) the well was actively used and immediately gave clean groundwater.

The well (OSM-ID: 1411531866 ) at this location was (obviously) dismantled and the borehole was filled in. In February 2018, next to the stop sign, there was only one “different” paved area in the verge. As recently as 2009, the yellow-painted handle pump in the Schliephack design was 20 meters in the connection to Schulstrasse (extension of Döberitzer Weg). The fountain to the northeast corner with the Nennhauser Damm was still close to the sign for the Döberitzer Weg bus stop (bus line M 32) until 2015. The address of the location results from the corner plot of Nennhauser Damm 126. The water drain fell on the narrow strip of paving and flowed over the curb into the street drainage . To the west of the intersection with Heerstraße is the listed New Jerusalem settlement .

Distribution of the street fountains to the neighborhoods

In the legal requirements from the 1960s, extraction points for "emergency water supply in the event of a disaster" are required for 1,500 to 2,500 residents. For the 244,000 inhabitants in the Spandau district ( Template: future / in 5 yearsas of 12/2018), 100 to 150 emergency water points with an output of 1.5 m³ per hour are necessary for the district-wide. The stated number of 120 wells results in 2000 inhabitants per tap across the district.

As of 2016, according to the answer from the Spandau District Office for printed matter 18/10377 of the House of Representatives (as of February 20, 2017) there are 120 "functional and operational street fountains ". From sources for the list and during the site inspection, 95 wells were found for the list. In order to limit the existing difference of 25 as yet unknown locations, this list is kept for distribution across the neighborhoods. Presumed locations should be in the neighborhoods of Hakenfelde Nord, Kurstrasse, Jägerallee (Gatow / Kladow) or Wilhelmstadt. The following table gives an overview of the distribution of "clumsy" areas in the planning rooms according to the system of living-world-oriented rooms . To mark the population density in the Kiez , the usage categories of the areas of the planning area have been added. These figures are only guidelines : for example, the use of wells on the edge of the planning area is possible for residents of the neighboring district.

  31. a b c d e f When a well is decommissioned or rehabilitated, the filter section lying in the ground, the top pipes and the annular space filling are removed by "over-drilling" and the borehole is filled with pressed material and sealed. The location is closed with a manhole cover or adapted to the surrounding soil. A manhole cover is particularly important when a new installation takes place at the same location as soon as the necessary finances are available again. The term overbore is based on the fact that a larger diameter than the existing "source" diameter is usually lowered. In addition, locations marked with over-drilling are primarily brought back into operation by means of new drilling in the vicinity.
