List of street fountains in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg
The list of street fountains in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg is an overview of the currently (as of 2018) existing fountains in the districts of the district. The district consists of the old districts of Lichtenberg and Hohenschönhausen, which made the addition "H" and "L" necessary for the continuous number of wells.
For the principles and designs of Berlin's emergency water wells, see the list of street wells in Berlin .
overview
There are 91 hand lever pumps in the district for emergency water supply with near-surface groundwater (as of February 7, 2018). Of these, 36 are in the area of the former Hohenschönhausen district and 55 in what was originally Lichtenberg's district territory . The assignment to civil protection and disaster control as well as the financial responsibility for maintenance and repair results in the breakdown into federal and state wells . The 58 federal fountains are named directly in the table. In the absence of such a comment, it concerns the state wells, which are the responsibility of the Senate administration and are looked after by the district administration (road and green areas office). Well locations are located on district-owned land, preferably on roads. However, 24 wells were drilled on private land, which is why their open access has been partially restricted, a corresponding note is included in the list. The selection of the locations was made on general public property until 1990, after the fall of the Wall , private properties of the existing but partially renamed housing associations were created around the residential buildings, which have overall responsibility.
With the geographical expansion of the district between Wartenberg, Hohenschönhausen North and Karlshorst South, it is inevitable that the wells are located on different groundwater areas. The list includes their drilling depth (10–60 meters) to the groundwater layer used and the distance from the surface to the groundwater at the site. It should be noted that the Neu-Hohenschönhausen housing estate was built from 1980 on the former sewage fields of the Falkenberg estate; a long-term effect on the quality of the groundwater could not be proven.
The list can be sorted according to districts, addresses, year of construction, drilling depth and pump shape. In addition, the distance to the floor of the groundwater is added on site. The actual well depth is usually around 50 meters in order to pump suitable water. The water quality is regularly tested by the health department. On the shaft of 72 of the 91 plumps , which are painted uniformly green, a color-framed white sign "No drinking water" indicates their restricted use . Appropriate measures are therefore required when using it for drinking purposes. The number of residents column means the number of residents to be supplied in the vicinity of the street well in an emergency. For Berlin there was previously a desirable distance of 300 meters, the planning number set since mid-1960 states that each hand pump (if possible) has to supply 1500-2500 residents. Several wells in Neu-Hohenschönhausen and Fennpfuhl, which are located on the private property of the housing cooperatives, are not open to the public because for reasons of order and safety, waist-high fences up to over a man's height cordon off the affected lawns.
Property numbers that can not be identified are (in contrast to house numbers ) in brackets and sometimes marked with a "#". The numbers on the pump columns were assigned within the old districts. So that no digits are repeated, “L” and “H” are in front of the Lichtenberg district to distinguish the two counting series. The description is supplemented with pictures, which can be found on Wikimedia Commons (partly by district) .
According to the design, there are 9 Krausebrunnen from the 1920s in the district, the remaining fountain stands correspond to the column shape, eleven of which are one-piece, 34 stands are screwed together from three parts, there are 36 of the thick columns composed of two parts.
A current location determination results from the presentation of the results of the road inspection, which was commissioned by the Senate in 2014/2015 . The street furniture and pieces of equipment were then digitally evaluated and displayed on map material under the geoportal of the state survey office. The map material can be accessed via the link on the geoportal. The map details that are important for this article can be accessed using the search term “Straßenbefahrt 2014” and the relevant address. The locations of the road wells are marked with a blue square. Various map material can be selected as the background for the display. The overview of the locations of Berlin street fountains can be obtained via an OSM-supported map in a comparison of the WP-recorded and the plump recorded in 2014.
Abbreviations of the statistics office according to the LOR lists are used for the districts of the district.

The facts noted in the well list are from the beginning of 2018. Changes may arise after regular sampling for water quality or complex controls by well companies. If necessary, the timely condition at the respective location must be determined individually .
Emergency water well in the Lichtenberg district
According to the information provided by the Lichtenberg District Office in November 2019, there are a total of 91 wells in the district, compared to 88 in 2009. Accordingly, 35 locations are not directly suitable for drinking water purposes due to chemical and 78 due to bacteriological contamination. For 2016, 75 functioning wells were named by the district office in response to a written request from 2017. The list ( as of 11/2019) contains 91 entries (one as a dismantled or stored street well). With a targeted number of 1500 inhabitants per well, the number of inhabitants (280,721) results in a requirement of 187 street wells.

The location is across from house 20 about 30 meters on the green area. The Judith Auer senior citizens' home dominates the west of the lawn . The Volkspark Prenzlauer Berg is located across Hohenschönhauser Strasse (in the Pankow district). |
Fenpf | L028 | Paul-Zobel-Straße behind 20 Lage |
1987 | 56 20-30 m |
4,000 | three-part column | The L 28 emergency water well is located behind the house at Paul-Zobel-Straße 20, just under five meters from the wall with its round, half-open water inlet on a two-by-two-meter brittle concrete slab that is also covered in moss. In 2017/2018, the inner area formed by the U-shaped street on Paul-Zobel-Straße was compacted by new residential buildings. The pump column stands with its smaller round base plate on an approximately 40 cm large base plate of the standpipe, this sits on a 10 cm high concrete base with a steel plate diameter. The rectangular concrete floor slab of the entire facility also protrudes 10–15 cm above the surrounding level. The water drain for excess pump water is not installed under the drain, despite the long water outlet pipe. |
Frife | L029 | Paul-Gesche-Straße opposite. 10 location |
1987 | 42 3–4 m |
3,500 | three-part column | The fountain is opposite house number 10 on private property and the tenant's yard and children's playground including an emergency water pump are surrounded by a fence. Access possible through the recycling area at Paul-Gesche-Straße 3/4 and 5/6. The location of the fountain is surrounded by erratic boulders, and the round street inlet is silted up due to the proximity of the sand square. The emergency water pump is mounted on the square concrete surface without any actual drain. Pump water gets into the ground. The well stand, made up of three parts, has a short pipe extension on the middle one at the level of the water outlet. |
Frife | L032 | Köpitzer Strasse playground opposite. 6 position |
1987 | 45 15-20 m |
4,000 | three-part column | The fountain stand stands with the ground-level base plate on the playground on the Vonovia block of flats, 30 meters across from the Köpitzer Strasse 6 house. The fountain is set up within a decorative area made of small paving stones. The middle part of the cylinder has a short extension at the lower end with a connection piece to which the outlet pipe is screwed. The water drains against a small boulder and is led into the playground's sandpit via a paved channel. So there is the possibility for a mud playground. With the redesign of the intersection Rhinstrasse / Alt-Friedrichsfelde (car tunnel), the Köpitzer Strasse was shortened, but the old buildings 6 and 8 (up to the 1930s Viktoriastrasse 7) remained. The fountain was set up in the mid-1980s together with the Alt-Friedrichsfelde 44-48 apartment block. Its surroundings were designed as a playground at the end of the 1990s. A fire brigade was located on this area until the 1950s. |
Frife | L033 | Franz-Mett-Straße 18 location |
1987 | 52 2.5-3 m |
3,600 | three-part column | The fountain is on the green area between the front of the WBS 70/11 residential building (number 20) and the neighboring sports hall (number 18). It is 15 meters from the balconies of the house. The base pipe of the swelling bore protrudes about 20 cm through the concrete base and is visibly screwed to the base plate of the well stand. The water drainage leads into the street inlet, which lies on the concrete slab together with the fountain. The pipe extension with the extension for the outlet pipe at the lower end of the central pipe is long. |
Frife | L034 | Sewanstrasse / Erieseering location |
1987 | 45 2-3 m |

The fountain is located at the eastern end of the apartment block Sewanstrasse 241-255 on the corner of Erieseering. The fountain is in a public green area on the southern edge of the youth leisure facility (Erieseering 4, former daycare center) a few meters from the intersection of Sewanstrasse / Erieseering / Friedenhorster Strasse / Ontarioseestrasse. The property is fenced, but the well is excluded. It stands with the base plate raised on a concrete plinth. There is a street inlet for the drain, but a paved gutter at right angles to it refers to the previous drain into the ground when the water outlet was 90 ° to the left. Until the Hans-Loch-Quarter was built, the current location was on Triftstrasse, the then KGA Heideland . The fountain also stands for the Splanemannsiedlung, which is owned by the federal government |
Frife | L035 | Erich-Kurz-Straße (parking lot # 11a) location |
1987 | 46 7-10 m |
2,900 | three-part column |
The fountain is at the southern end of Erich-Kurz-Strasse north of the parking lot on the way to the lawn. To the east there is a sports field. The more attractive access is from Am Tierpark (Heinrich-Dathe-Platz) via the Dathepromenade in front of Erich-Kurz-Straße 13 between the 9/11 apartment block and the 11a kiosk. Next to the path, separated from the parking lot by bushes, is the half meter high one
Concrete block with fountain stand and round street inlet. The latter is embedded in an (already existing) recess in the concrete slab. The lower part of the pipe is screwed to its base plate on the base of the fountain, which protrudes 20 cm above the concrete surface. The extension piece for the outlet pipe on the middle pipe part is located on a short pipe extension. The location is 40 meters south on the former Upstallweg and belonged to KGA Heideland until construction began in the mid-1970s. In 1986 the construction site at the location of the well is still marked on the 1986 map, with houses 9/11 and 13 already built. |

In an emergency, a two-leaf gate directly next to it, which borders on Rüdigerstrasse, could be opened. The pump itself is outwardly okay, but according to statements by two teachers it should not have worked in the summer of 2017: a planned water project could therefore not take place. owned by the federal government |
