List of monuments in Opole

This list includes the monuments, statues, fountains, statues, cenotaphs and sculptures in the public space of today's Polish city of Opole .

Some of them have been removed, relocated, remodeled or destroyed from their original location over time.

The monument once stood on a small chapel on the site of today's Ostbahnhof. Today it stands on a new pedestal at the Herz-Jesu-Kirche in Opole

Statue of St. John Nepomuk
Location: At the Church of St. Peter and Paul          Erected: 19th century

 
The statue once stood on the Pascheke on the Oder Bridge, where the Hotel Piast is now located at ul. Piastowska. In 1855 the statue was moved to the other side of the bridge in the Oder suburb at the Century Bridge (today Most Piastowska). After the bridge was destroyed in World War II, the statue initially remained undamaged in its place. In the 1950s, the Nepomuk statue was moved to its current location in front of the St. Peter and Paul Church.

Saint Christopher is the patron saint of travelers and drivers. The statue was created by Carl Kern in Kluczbork in 1867 . It originally stood in front of the main entrance to Koppitz Castle in Koppitz . The monument was slightly damaged during World War II. After extensive renovations, the monument was on October 4, 2005 at the University hill on the bridge between the Collegium Minus and the Collegium Maius set

The Juno statue was designed for the Paris World's Fair in 1867. It was initially in front of the main post office , then in 1903 it was placed in front of the Piast Castle in the castle park. In 1928 the memorial was moved again to a green area on the southern side of the Pascheke . The statue was destroyed in World War II. The base is still in the Nadodrzański Park today

The statue was reconstructed in 2017.

The memorial created by the sculptor Robert Bednorz was unveiled on August 20, 1911. On the 3 m high stele there was a portrait relief by Bismarck. After 1945 the monument was removed except for the stone balustrade. Today there are telephone booths here.

The monument was made of one stone and contained a bronze medal with the portrait of the emperor. This was removed after 1945. The stone is still in place today.

The monument was on the square north of the Roman Catholic. Church in the Opole district of Königlich Neudorf ( Polish: Nowa Wieś Królewska ). It was circular in plan. The monument no longer exists today.

Vogtsdorf Fallen Memorial
Location: ul.Wyszomirskiego Bogumiła          Erected: around 1925

 
The memorial was erected after the First World War for the fallen soldiers of the village Vogtsdorf ( Polish: Wójtowa Wieś ). After the 2nd World War the inscriptions were plastered. At the beginning of the 1990s, the inscriptions were made visible again and the memorial was supplemented with the names of the villagers who died in World War II.

In 1946 the memorial was removed.

 
Landjäger memorial
Location: ul.Piastowska          Erected: 1926

 
The monument was erected in front of the old Piast Castle in 1926. After this was torn down, the monument was put up again a few meters to the south. After the Second World War, the memorial inscriptions were removed. A few years later the base was also removed.

 
Memorial stone for Erich Schmidt
Location: Bolkoinsel          Erected: 1927

 
The stone no longer exists today.

The memorial was erected in 1933 in honor of the 72 villagers who died in the First World War. In 1976 it was dismantled and stored in a square near the church. In 2010 it was able to be restored through the initiative of the DFK Goslawitz.

The horse trough was one at today's Plac Wolnosci. On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city of Opole, it was reconstructed and placed on the ring.
