Nowa Wieś Królewska (German Bolko , 1784–1930 Königlich Neudorf ) is a district of the independent city of Opole in the Polish Voivodeship of Opole .

Geographical location

Nowa Wieś Królewska is located around four kilometers southeast of downtown Opole on the right bank of the Oder . The place lies in the Nizina Śląska ( Silesian Plain ) within the Pradolina Wrocławska ( Wroclaw Glacial Valley ). The village is bordered in all directions by railway lines and crossed in north-south direction, most of which belong to the railway line of the Upper Silesian Railway . The provincial roads Droga wojewódzka 423 and Droga wojewódzka 435 also run through the village .

Nowa Wieś Królewska is surrounded by several quarry ponds including Kamionka Bolko in the west, Kamionka Piast in the north and Kamionka Groszowice in the south. West of the village is the Bolko Island , the largest Oder island in Opole.

Nowa Wieś Królewska borders Opole city center in the north, Grudzice ( Grudschütz ) in the east and Groszowice ( Groschowitz ) in the south . The two districts of Szczepanowice ( Sczepanowitz ) and Wójtowa Wieś ( Vogtsdorf ) lie on the left bank of the Oder .

history

Of Our Lady of Perpetual Help

The place was first mentioned in 1295 as "Nova Villa". 1401 the village was again as Newendorff and Nuwendorff mentioned

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Neudorf and most of Silesia fell to Prussia . In 1784 Neudorf was renamed Königlich Neudorf .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia which belonged rural community Royal Neudorf from 1816 to district Opole in the administrative district of Opole . In 1822 a Catholic school was established in the village. In 1845 there was a Catholic school, a royal customs house, a weaving mill, four blacksmiths and 83 houses in the village. In the same year, 838 people lived in Königlich Neudorf, 35 of them Protestants. In 1855, 860 people lived in the village. In 1865 the village had eight farmers, four three-quarter farmers, eleven half-farmers, twelve cottagers, twelve gardeners and 48 non-cottagers. The Catholic school was attended by 143 students in the same year. In 1874 the administrative district Königlich Neudorf was founded, which consisted of the rural communities of Graefenort, Groschowitz and Königlich Neudorf and the estate districts of Bolko, Groschowitz and Königlich Neudorfdomain. In 1885 Königlich Neudorf had 2207 inhabitants.

For the Catholic parish established in 1901, the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was built between 1902 and 1904 in neo -Gothic style based on a project by the architect Ludwig Schneider. In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 2,474 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany, 741 voted to join Poland. Königlich Neudorf remained with the German Empire. In 1930 the place was renamed Bolko. In 1933 Bolko had 7,944 inhabitants and in 1939 8,351 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Nowa Wieś Królewska and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954 the place was the seat of the municipality Nowa Wieś Królewska. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1955 the place was incorporated into the city of Opole .

  • The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Polish: Kościół Matki Boskiej Nieustającej Pomocy ) was built between 1902 and 1904 in neo -Gothic style by the architect Ludwig Schneider . It is on Plac Koscielny . Next door is the parsonage, also built in the neo-Gothic style. Both buildings have been a listed building since 2011.
  • The school building at Plac Koscielny was built in 1899. The building has been a listed building since 2001.
  • Opposite the church in the northern section of Plac Koscielny are the remains of the former war memorial. It was built in 1925. After the Second World War, the monument was dismantled and converted into a fountain. Today the facility is in a miserable condition
  • Neo-Baroque castle from 1890 at ul. Marka z Imielnicy
  • The cemetery at ul. Zielona was established in 1901. The cemetery chapel was built at the same time. In 2009 a fire destroyed the interior of the chapel. In 2010 the chapel was rebuilt and almost completely reconstructed inside. The complex has been a listed building since 1989.
