Krzanowitz ( Polish Krzanowice , 1934-1945 Erlengrund ) is a district of the city of Opole in Poland. Until 2016, the Upper Silesian village was in the municipality of Groß Döbern in the Powiat Opolski (Opole district).

Krzanowitz is located eight kilometers south-east of the municipality of Groß Döbern and six kilometers north of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole .

history

Krzanowitz was first mentioned in a document in 1450.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 61 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 74 for Poland. Krzanowitz remained with the German Empire . In 1925 there were 212 inhabitants. On February 19, 1934, the place was renamed Erlengrund . On April 1, 1937, Krzanowitz was incorporated into Frauendorf . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Krzanowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Opolski . On April 22, 2009, German was introduced as the second official language in the community of Groß Döbern, to which Krzanowitz belonged, and on December 1, 2009 the place was also given the official German place name Krzanowitz . On January 1, 2017, Krzanowitz was incorporated into the city of Opole.
