The fishing peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein has an unusually high density of Romanesque churches from the 12th century, some of which were built in brick and some in field stone .

The church in Brodersby-Goltoft is said to be the most originally preserved, that in Grundhof as the largest and that in Sörup as the most architecturally significant. Of the total of 25 stone churches, 5 were built from precisely carved granite blocks. Typical of the region are the nave , which is entered from the side, and a lower choir compared to the nave .
