List of cultural assets in Sarnen

The list of cultural assets in Sarnen contains all objects in the municipality of Sarnen in the canton of Obwalden that are subject to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict , the Federal Act of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and the Ordinance of 29 June 2014 October 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .

Objects in categories A and B are completely included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018).

On May 25, 2018, the Obwalden cantonal council passed an amendment dated March 27, 2018 to the cantonal protection plan for cultural objects of regional and national importance in the municipality of Sarnen (Sarnen-Dorf local area, Ramersberg local area and Schwendi-Wilen local area). From the previous cantonal protection plans from 1992 to 2005, Villa Landenberg was released as a protected property and 18 new cultural objects were included in the protection plans. Three cultural objects of regional importance that were already under protection were newly classified as cultural objects of national importance and one cultural object of national importance was newly classified as a cultural object of regional importance in accordance with the requirements of the federal government.

		Collection and music collection of the St. Andreas convent KGS-No .: 4301	A.	S.	Brünigstrasse 157 six hundred sixty-one thousand four hundred and ninety  /  193959	The monastery includes 2300 music manuscripts, making it one of the most important musical collections in Switzerland. There are also manuscripts and books, paintings and sculptures, liturgical vessels and textiles.

		College Church St. Martin KGS-No .: 4303	A.	G	Brünigstrasse 661500  /  193 721	1964–1966 built church for the Benedictines of Muri-Gries Abbey and the attached boarding school. The building designed by Ernst Studer was influenced by the work of Le Corbusier .
		Catholic Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul KGS-No .: 4304	A.	G	Kirchhofen 660 920  /  one hundred and ninety-three thousand nine hundred nineteen	Mentioned for the first time in 1036, from 1739–1742 completely new construction by Franz Singer to create an imposing hall church in the baroque style. 1881 completion of the west tower. Artistically outstanding interior.
		Sarnen Town Hall KGS-No .: 4305	A.	G	DORFPLATZ 8 661 452  /  194198	First mentioned in 1419, reconstruction after a fire in the village in 1468. 1729–1731 extensive new building including the ground floor of the previous building. Representative baroque building with clock tower, interior from the 18th / 19th centuries Century.
		Hexenturm KGS-No .: 4308	A.	G	Kirchstrasse six hundred sixty-one thousand three hundred and forty-nine  /  194155	The castle tower made of quarry stones , built around 1285 as the official residence and residence of the Knights of Sarnen. Use as a prison, archive, treasury and museum. Baroque roof structure from 1715.

		St. Michael Ossuary KGS-No .: 9743	A.	G	Kirchhofen 660 920  /  one hundred and ninety-three thousand nine hundred nineteen	Late Gothic building built around 1500 west of the parish church. Wooden ceiling from 1505 with flat carvings. Renovated in 1885 in neo-Gothic style, restored to its original state in 1966–69.
		Altes Gymnasium KGS-No .: 4306	B.	G	Brünigstrasse 179 661 491  /  193600	Former school building of Muri-Gries Abbey , built in 1890/91. Monumental, plastered neo-renaissance building with richly structured facades.

		Rotes Haus KGS-No .: 4315	B.	G	Brünigstrasse 156 661,458  /  194067	Built in 1556 as a residence for Landammann Niklaus Wirz, ancestral home of the influential Wirz family. In 1832 largely rebuilt on the ground floor walls.
		Salzherrenhaus KGS-No .: 4316	B.	G	Bahnhofstrasse 4 six hundred and sixty-one thousand five hundred and thirty-one  /  194040	House built for Landammann Niklaus Imfeld in 1544, reconstruction of the upper floor after a fire in 1562. The name comes from salt master Felix Stockmann (18th / 19th century). 1891 Expansion to include a pharmacy and redesign.

High-gabled block construction with a brick basement, a defining link between the village square and Sarner Aa .

		Grosshaus Hofmatt KGS-No .: 12301	B.	G	Rütistrasse 23 six hundred and sixty-one thousand and seven  /  193837	House built by Landammann Johann Imfeld II in 1643, wall painting in the panorama room. Has housed the Hofstatt Gallery since 1992.
